Tri-State Weekly Brief News
29-April 2007
Dear Fuad,

Greetings!  It has been more than two weeks since our last brief news and I would like to update you on the latest events taking place.  First, we had our first Executive Picnic where we discussed our plans for the upcoming months ahead.  The first of which is being held on May 9 and I would encourage all of you to participate.  The event will be a "brainstorm buffet" and will be held at Basha Restaurant in Paterson, NJ.  The objective of the event is twofold, first to provide opportunity for everyone to meet with each other and second, to get input from you on your expectations of AAAEA in 2007.   Please reserve this date on your calendars and send us an email if your are planning to attend.

Second, you may have noticed the newly designed newsletter.  We have taken your comments into consideration and hope you are pleased with this new format.  Please continue to send us your comments at tristate@aaaea.org so that we may continue to improve.  Looking forward to hearing from you,

With Best Regards,

Fuad Issa

Letter from AAAEA-IL President
 Salaam!

Dear fellow Engineers & Engineering Students:

I am writing this memo for you to share or distribute to others in your community and introduce them to the Arab American Association of Engineers and Architects (AAAEA). We are reaching out to other cities and colleges and encourage them to form similar associations or student chapters. We are ready to assist in any way we can. Below is information on the AAAEA.

The AAAEA is a professional organization dedicated to helping its members succeed in their professions by networking among each other through seminars and social activities. AAAEA is non-political and non-religious. It is open to all architects, engineers and computer science professionals of Arab heritage. We promote and advance our standing in the fields of engineering, technology, architecture, and computer science. Though we are based in Illinois, we have active members in 12 states and sister associations in Michigan, Texas, Tri-State (NJ-NY-CT) and Wisconsin.

The goals of the AAAEA include the following:

To further the public welfare whenever engineering knowledge is involved and to act upon matters which are the concern of the engineering profession.

Promote cooperation and mutual assistance among the members.

Conduct academic review courses and technical seminars to update members' knowledge on the latest technologies and regulations affecting the engineering profession.

Establish scholarship programs to encourage qualified and talented students to pursue engineering field studies.

 Cooperate with other professional organizations.

Serve the professional interest of the general membership and strive to promote professional consciousness and fellowship through collective interdisciplinary activities all in accordance with recognized and established engineering ethics, and within existing applicable laws.

Since AAAEA's inception in 1996, this young association has achieved tremendous success. We have granted more than 10 Scholarships to student members. We have offered EIT review classes twice a year. We assisted approximately ninety members in job placement or career enhancement. We continue to offer seminars, technical conferences and programs that benefit the members and the community to achieve the association goals.

Please check out our website at www.aaaea.org for more information, our current & past activities, how to form a similar association or how to join. We look forward to hearing from you and encourage any correspondence and comments.

If you have any questions or comments, to receive the Chicago Experience CD, please contact our National Outreach Chairman Dr. Mustafa Mahamid, PE at (312) 582-2031 or me at (312) 803-6516.

Thank you for your interest.

Sincerely,

Jamal Grainawi, S.E., P.E.

AAAEA-IL President
